Dan Souza is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years experience in the public mental health field. Mr. Souza completed his undergraduate work at California State University Stanislaus and received his Master of Social Work Degree from California State University Fresno.

Mr. Souza began his career with Stanislaus County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (formerly Department of Mental Health) in 1975 as Coordinator with the Turlock Counseling Center. Prior to that he was Chief Social Worker on the Psychiatric inpatient Unit at Emanuel Hospital. He has also served as Clinical Services Manager, Assistant Director for Clinical Services, and Assistant Director for Behavioral Health and Recovery Services. Mr. Souza is the former director of Stanislaus County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS). BHRS is an $80 Million Comprehensive Mental Health, Alcohol, and Drug Abuse Center.

Mr. Souza is currently Chair of the Adult System of Care Committee for the California Mental Health Directors Association (CMHDA) and a Governing Board member of that organization. Mr. Souza is a member of the Stanislaus County Children and Families Commission and the Stanislaus County Children’s Council. He is Past Chair and current member of the Advisory Committee, Master of Social Work Program for California State University Stanislaus. He is also a member of the California Chapter, National Association of Social Workers. He is a Board member of the Valley Area Living Enabling Resources Advisory Board. Mr. Souza has also taught graduate level courses at California State University Stanislaus.

Mr. Souza lives in Turlock with his wife. He has one son and two grandchildren.
